DolphinSpotter is a UK non-profit organisation for the study and protection of wild dolphins, working closely with the SeaWatch Foundation, International Dolphin Watch and other groups. DolphinFacts provides interesting information about whales, dolphins and porpoises and the DolphinNews pages will keep you updated on events around the world. The Dolphinicity pages include a biography of Robin Petch and Kris Simpson, the Project Directors, and tell the story of our research boat, the 32' motor sailer Dolphinicity now for sale at a reduced price of only £18750 ono! This site is updated as often as we can manage and the core information on Dolphinspotter - reporting sightings, DolphinFacts – educational information and DolphinLinks is always current. Spotted a whale, dolphin or porpoise? Follow the Dolphinspotter link and let us know! More details below. Found a stranded whale, dolphin or porpoise? See the British Divers Marine Life Rescue link below.
Why report whale, dolphin and porpoise sightings to Dolphinspotter? "Wally", the Northern Bottlenose Whale which died in the Thames has helped to show how little we know about the 25+ species found in UK waters. By reporting any sightings, you are helping to add information to the National Database held by the SeaWatch Foundation. This is used to focus research and conservation efforts in the areas where they are most often found. If you see anything, please let us know. Become a Marine Mammal Medic with British Divers Marine Life Rescue You don't have to be a diver, but you should be confident in and around water. BDMLR run training courses so that you can help when seals, porpoises, dolphins and whales are sick, injured or stranded around our coasts. Ring BDMLR on 01825 765546 or log on to www.bdmlr.org.uk for details. Or in the Hull area, ring Alan Stewart on 07800 838724 |
