Where are dolphins found?
Where do dolphins live?
- Dolphins are found all over the world. Some types
live in only a small area. Other types can live in many different
places. Bottlenose Dolphins seem to be found almost everywhere!
- Most live in the sea but occasionally travel up
rivers for short periods. In India, China and Brazil there are dolphins
which have become adapted to living in rivers all the time.
Where can I go to see dolphins around Britain?
- There are Bottlenose Dolphins living in the Moray
Firth, Scotland, and in Cardigan Bay, Wales. Cornwall also seems popular
but they can be seen all around our coasts from time to time.
- The Western Isles of Scotland such as Coll and Mull
are good places to see many different types of whales and dolphins.
- Harbour Porpoises come close inshore to feed,
especially in bays and around headlands.
- Keep your eyes open! There are over 20 different
types of whales, dolphins and porpoises around Great Britain and they
can be found almost anywhere!
